Canada’s privacy commissioner has asked a court to require Aylo Holdings, the company behind Pornhub and several other adult sites, to publish only material for which the people featured have given explicit consent.

The Data Protection Commissioner plans to seek a court order compelling Aylo to comply with the law, a move that could benefit performers with jobs in porn by bolstering their protections.

He emphasized that the company has yet to deliver a satisfactory response to the issues identified during the inquiry.

Aylo replied that the woman filed a complaint in 2015 and that the company has taken all possible steps to prevent illegal adult content from appearing on its services.

Kekesi added that several new safeguards have been rolled out since then, including verifying uploader identities, recognizing performers, and confirming their participation—measures he described as “significant steps” against harmful and unlawful 18+ content.

Even so, there is still room to improve practices around porn jobs, as Pornhub’s earlier issues show:
