For porn platforms today, fast and stable payouts are already a key issue

For many years now, one of the biggest problems in the digital adult industry hasn’t been content creation itself, but the stability of the financial background. A significant change has just happened in this area: Pornhub has officially phased out the use of USDT, and going forward will make crypto payouts to models in USDC.

According to the platform, USDC is:

• a fully backed stablecoin
• compliant with the European MiCA regulation
• operating under oversight
• able to provide a more stable financial environment for models

For users, the system will function roughly the same, since USDC is also a 1:1 stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar.

For models, it’s not just about earnings, but access

One of the biggest challenges in online webcam jobs today is often not content creation, but how models receive their earnings.

In many countries, this is still an issue:

• opening bank accounts
• restrictions by payment processors
• the cost of international transfers
• or the prohibition of adult-industry transactions

In Pornhub’s model program, alternatives currently available alongside USDC include Paxum, Verge, and Cosmo.

Not only the payment asset may have changed

The technical background of the previous system was partly supported by the TronLink infrastructure linked to Justin Sun. However, this is no longer visible in the current interface of the model program.

This may indicate that Pornhub has reorganized not only the stablecoin it uses, but also its entire technical and financial background.

The move is likely driven by a combination of:

The adult industry’s financial system continues to evolve

The competition among stablecoins currently affects the entire crypto sector. While some platforms are moving toward USDC, other players are choosing USDT.

Recently, for example, the hacked Drift Protocol went in the opposite direction as part of a large bailout package, switching from USDC to USDT as a settlement asset.

This clearly shows there isn’t a single universal solution right now.
