One of last summer’s biggest surprises in tech and business was the announcement that the Docler Group, associated with György Gattyán, was initiating large-scale layoffs. The official rationale highlighted artificial intelligence and automation. Inside the company, however, many describe a different reality.

What appears to be happening is more than a corporate reshuffle - it may represent a broader transition with potential implications for the entire webcam job industry.

Over the summer, Docler revealed plans to dismiss about 200 employees in Budapest and another 115 in Luxembourg. Public statements emphasized streamlining, automated processes, and AI-led initiatives.

The company said these measures were necessary in light of global economic headwinds and shifts across the IT landscape.

Employees are outraged - could webcam jobs face the same future?

For many LiveJasmin staff, the move was unexpected, sparking anger and disappointment. Several people speaking anonymously said the layoffs did not resemble a coherent, long-range strategy, but rather a series of rapid, reactive choices.

That impression is reinforced by reports that some people were dismissed only weeks after joining. Teams working on artificial intelligence initiatives were not spared either.

Are webcam jobs still worth it?

The history of the Docler Group is tightly connected to LiveJasmin. The platform helped redefine the webcam job landscape and remains the group’s primary revenue driver and a major force in the global erotic industry.

Even so, insiders say momentum has slowed. LiveJasmin’s revenue has been edging down for years, and by early 2025 the decline became more pronounced: fewer active users and reduced overall earnings.

This does not imply the company is unprofitable. It does suggest, however, that the phase of seemingly boundless growth may be over.

Official statements maintain that LiveJasmin is still performing strongly and that the reorganisation is not directly tied to daily revenue numbers. Employee accounts, however, paint a more complicated picture.

Expansion at any cost?

While its core business has been cooling, Docler has pushed forward with ambitious expansion. The company has bought several adult content platforms and tech services, and has also invested heavily in the iconic Playboy brand.

At the same time, new ventures have launched that use AI to build virtual “digital partners” for users.

The portfolio is striking - yet extremely costly to sustain.

According to sources, a number of these bets currently burn more cash than they bring in, and supporting them requires large, expensive development and IT teams.

This combination of shrinking income and rising expenses may help explain the sudden push to reduce costs.

There is also a clear tension: although AI was cited as a central reason for job cuts, groups working on these technologies were also downsized. Docler says this mirrors broader industry patterns and notes that many developers had been assigned to “experimental” initiatives.

Trade unions in Luxembourg warn that it is risky if companies start attributing every round of layoffs to artificial intelligence.

One thing is evident: what is unfolding in the online adult jobs space goes beyond a single wave of cuts; it may mark the close of a chapter.
